Bringing a Minimalist Design to Your Home – Home Designs Sydney

Minimalism as a movement emerges in the 1950s to achieve a maximum compositional and aesthetic effect, but with less usage of the primary elements of the architectural style and materials.

Minimalist architecture, art and design are led by the concept "Less is more". Extreme simplicity is, as a rule, combined with functionality, and through minimalism, additional decorations are discharged. The decorative in this style is achieved by playing with geometric figures and light. The minimalist design uses elements of industrial and modern style - lights, ovens, stairs, etc., set to flat components such as walls, flat roofs, and large windows.

The modern minimalist architecture by removing unnecessary interior walls has led to the popularity of the open space, which means connecting the kitchen and the living room. This type of design is common and most used in residential areas with a small square. The goal is to get a bigger and open space and a greater light. But with all the advantages, minimalism has disadvantages. The biggest disadvantage is the small number of items for storing things, which is of particular importance to today's average family. Therefore, the minimalist style and design for many remains an unfulfilled desire.

If you want to design your home in this style, it is a good idea to start a room per room. It is best to start with the living room because it is the central place in the house where most of the time passes. Forget traditional and bulky furniture. Choose elegant and modern pieces, with clean lines, simple textures and bright colours, preferably from natural materials. When the elements are concerned, try to be low because they occupy less space. To achieve a minimalist effect, the wardrobes should be in neutral colours or the same colour as the walls. The front of the wardrobes can have a mirror, which will also give visually larger space.

The floor should be quality and dominate the space. Do not cover it with large carpets. The floor should be seen. The walls, like the floors, should be clean and in bright colours, by placing one to two art paintings... As a decoration you can use wall lamps, which will make the room more pleasant, especially in the evenings.

The decorative elements do not have a significant role in the design of the minimalist interior. Fewer decorations - better. But it is important to choose at least one central detail that will bring uniqueness.
